A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston

emotional funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted mysterious slow-paced

I really love Ashley Poston’s writing and the way she can portray so many emotions into the magic she weaves throughout her stories.

While I loved the concept of A Novel Love Story unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I love books about books it’s one of my favourite types of storytelling but this one while I loved the thought of finding yourself in your favourite book there was just something that kept pulling me out of the story. The pacing was rather slow and it I found it a little jarring how we would go from present to past without any knowledge and this I found hard to fully connect with the story.

The relationship for me really didn’t work..I felt like there was no build up to the romance which unfortunately made it feel unbelievable. Usually in previous books the characters have this kind of connection and it builds from there this one just didn’t feel like that at all..though maybe if had been POV from the MMC side this might of changed my feelings especially for the ending as it felt like it went in one direction only for it to turn around and end the way it did.

The way grief is handled in an Ashley Poston book is always written in such a beautifully relatable way and it is still one of my favourite things about her storytelling.
