Finally finishing reviews for all the books I read in November. This was a random grab during a book outlet order because I was intrigued by the cover and blurb. It was...not my cup of tea. I think the writing is beautiful and an interesting style since it's kind of an internal monologue/personal story narration. This is billed as a woman rights and wrongs kind of story which I usually love. But Joan, the main character, is just hard to connect and empathize with. I don't mind an unlikeable heroine but I just never really got on Joan's side. Also this book gets dark and I'm not sure some of the darkest scenes are for the benefit of the plot or just shock value.
