As I told a friend: as I was about 3/4 through the book: "I don't care about any of the characters and the plot is inscrutable, but I think you will like it." Not sure if I feel the same way now that I have finished. There are some fascinating ideas to wrestle with in Join, but other than that? Not much to like.
