Something about this series just gripped me and refused to put me down until I was done. I'm not normally the biggest fan of first person narratives, but Murderbot's voice felt somehow... authentic? Like, this book is great at making you suspend your disbelief and accept the worldbuilding as it comes at you (in bite-sized chunks, without being overbearing).

Something I find a lot of sci fi literature struggles with is establishing a setting that doesn't immediately send the reader into sensory overload. The world has to be revealed in a way that feels natural, but explains what's going on at the same time, without boring your audience or confusing them. Murderbot walks that edge expertly.

The whole series captures the struggle of figuring out who you are in a world that wants you to be one thing, to the point where even being offered a choice feels like you're being forced. I found something to relate to in that.

This is also my personal opinion, but Murderbot reads as autistic-coded to me. I've seen that a fair amount in books with AI characters, but this one does it in a way that doesn't feel mocking or ignorant.
