The Pro vs The Fan by Nicole Dykes
5.0
Another great book to add to this series.
Cooper, with his nervous chatter, is so funny and adds a lightness to the story, I immediately want him as a friend, he's such a likeable character.
Maverick is lonely, his celebrity racing life isn't an easy one and any relationship he enters is closely scrutinised. This is the unfair advantage of having to define your sexuality, why should he have to publicly admit he is bi before he can hold his boyfriend's hand in public. He is an honorable person, but at what cost. He doesn't want to hide Cooper, but he also feels a huge sense of responsibility to shelter him from the ugliness that follows his fame. Cooper loves so big, his huge heart fits everything and everyone in it, but it leaves him vulnerable to hurt. We can see he is going to get hurt, and it stings so much to watch both men broken-hearted.
Two really special men, who deserve each other's love and devotion and the right to their freedom. Behind closed doors these two figure out they are more than friends, they experience so much together and everything is perfect, until they have to step outside and suddenly everything they want isn't easy. This is where their friends and Maverick's parents come into their own. They play such important parts in offering strength and support. The animal shelter adds yet another softee factor, as if these two didn't make us swoon already. I really loved the dynamics between these two, it felt genuine and despite one of them having less experience with men, they were super hot together.
The epilogue jumps 5 years and so much has happened, it takes us well into a happy ending. I can't wait for book 4. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
