I gave it a 1 because I never did DNF it.
It’s the first in a series but it reads like the last in a series. There are so many side characters that take up at least 75% of the book. There’s heavy exposition in almost every other scene. I didn’t read the other books before this but you should if you want to read this.
Also, this is petty, but I grew up in Connecticut and there was no local flavor to this book at all. I don’t think the author has ever stepped foot there and it really shows. That probably won’t bother anyone unless they’re from CT too.
