god it took me so long to read this because of moving and such but HOLY CRAP this book was AWESOME! God there's so much to say, but let's start off with how much I freaking ship Adam and Ronan!!! I just thinking would be so perfect and just ergh ergh the FEELS. Also Blue was amazing and badass as usual and I loved Jesse Dittley. He was pretty cool near the end. Greenmantle and Piper were very interesting and fuck Artemus and Maura and Persephone...Oh Persephone! I was getting quite teary! Maggie Stievater is an excellent writer and I've never read anything like this before and I love it. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT A YEAR FOR THE NEXT ONE! I NEED it now!!! There's so much more that I could say but I'm just going to end here with I loved this, like, a lot. And I haven't read many 5 star books this year so this is really excellent. :)

2024 reread: knocked off a quarter star because again, the sequels are not living up to the first book! this was great, though, and i love how expansive the magic was in this.
