Barbarian's Touch by Ruby Dixon
4.0
“Okay, starting tomorrow I’ll be a self-rescuing princess. That sounds good.”
This story stars when Lila, Maddie and few other women are rescued and two sisters find out that they're in a freeing cold planet instead of being in their apartment. Lila has been completely deaf until she got cochlear implants ten years ago when she was twelve years old and now suddenly she doesn't have them anymore. That's a lot to deal on top of the fact that she's suddenly on different planet with blue aliens who look like demons.
Lila isn't the only one who is having hard time. Maddie should've listened what Lila told her but Maddie was going out of her mind with worry while Lila was with Rokan. Lila loves her sister; she's been there for her since she was a kid but she also finds her sister over-protective. Lila resents a little bit that she always needs to rely on her sister and she wants to learn to do things by herself.
Lila thinks that Hassen has scary, possessive eyes. Maybe it's because I've read Barbarian's Taming before but I feel bad for both Maddie and Hassen. Maddie is so focused on her sister that everyone is a bit scared of her and Hassen just wanted a mate. He did it all wrong but I guess if it worked for few of other men...
Rokan on other hand has nice and kind eyes. He doesn't look Lila like Hassen does and Lila feels safe with him. Rokan is in awe how beautiful Lila's smile is and I think that's so sweet. Rokan has waited for resonance for his entire life but he was waiting for Lila to do the first move. It shows how some people in Ice Planet are different. Some of them really respects the woman to make a choice from the beginning instead of just bringing up the resonance.
Rokan's eager to learn Lila's 'hand language' aka sign language. I'm glad Lila didn't get mad when Rokan showed her a middle finger he thought was a part of the language because Maddie lifted her middle finger to him.
