Starting an adult re-read of Goosebumps with this one was probably not the best choice.
I hate when plants are the villain but honestly the bigger bads are the parents here. I'm a 90s kid and while our parents let us stay out on our own late and were quite a bit hands off, this was neglect.
It was brutal and devious, which is delightful, but the neglect of kids written for kids feels like it's showcasing harmful attitudes that kids should expect from their parents.
