Damn Dress: A Love Story by Soular

3.0

3.5 stars

After I was head over heels for Seven Days, I went ahead and read her first story which was this book. I was actually really hesitant about moving onto this book after reading her other amazing book. It's rare that you love more than 1 . Sadly I think I was right.

Maybe it was because the main protagonist was just too immature and unlikeable for my taste. But this book was not as steamy or entertaining as Seven Days. It centers of 18-year old Sienna, who is finally old enough to pursue her dream guy, who also happens to be her militant father's mentee. And they go through these trials and tribulations in their relationship.

**IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 or uncomfortable with erotica novels please skip reading**

The problem is though, that Sienna just barely turns 18 when this all happens, so none of the sex scenes are steamy. There are some quite disturbing scenes that make both characters deplorable in my eyes, but for different reasons. Sienna is just immature and has based her whole crush on an idealistic fantasy of who she wants him to be. And the guy (whose name I forgot) is okay, but nothing special. By the time I was on chapter 7 (there are 10 chapters total), I had to stop like wait...where's the character development? where's the action?

The climax (no pun intended) of the novel is incredibly stupid and something that doesn't, in my eyes, redeem either character. I DNF'ed at this point.

But despite how badly I may seem to bash this story, I actually think it's worth reading. I tell myself that this story had to have been written (as it's one of her earlier works) or we would have never gotten Seven Days, one of my favorite erotica books ever. The writing in this one isn't so bad and is just slightly steamier than what's on Wattpad today, so I do intend on finishing this story to get it over with. But out of the three books of Soular's I've read, this would have to be my "least" favorite - though her worst writing is some of many author's best writing so I'll give it that..
