I adored the two audiobook narrators, the prose was simple but well-written and it was very funny. Both MCs deal with family drama. Maggie is half Vietnamese but has been raised by grandparents who alienated her from that side of her culture and went through a divorce. She lives like a recluse but since she wants to set a good example for her son who’s off to college, she decides to socialize more. Aiden has a complicated family dynamic, some of which involves biphobia/bi-erasure and it was handled well by the author. It was nice to see them work through those issues while getting closer to each other. It was so refreshing to read about middle-aged characters finding love! I loved the set-up of how they met and built a real friendship before becoming lovers, so it’s a bit of a slow burn, but I loved it all the more for that. I only wish we got to see them as a couple for longer before the epilogue, but aside from that it’s an absolute banger, my favourite romance of this summer!
