This is one of those cozy mysteries that I want you to live but am struggling to connect with fully. I adore an urban fantasy and this does have an interesting world built around it. The talking to animals part does make things interesting. I am not in love with the main character, she is a bit annoying at times. I am hoping she settles as the series progresses. The shifter and magic elements need more exploration as well. I need a bit more info about this world and how magic exists in it so openly but shifters are practically illegal. The narrator has a great read and does well making the story move along. Not the most amazing cozy mystery but there is more than enough here to have me pick up the next book.
