Lowering from 3 to 2 stars because this book just didn’t hit for me. It was very lacking in various aspects… tbh I don’t think this book should have existed. I feel like Belladonna should have been a standalone and maybe Wisteria could have been a spin/off about Blythe.
I cannot picture Fate and Blythe together after he was just an asshole to her this whole book and only wanted Signa, who isn’t even Life. I think the twist of Blythe being Life is very odd. I’m not sure why she would be other than weird coincidence that both Life and a reaper are in the same bloodline.
In my mind, I think if Blythe is Life then she should have been throughout this book. It never should have been a weird love triangle with the brothers, Signa should never have had the powers, and Fate should not have been interested in her. I’d have liked it better if Signa and Death’s story wrapped up in Belladonna and this focused on Blythe and Fate without any of the story from book two. This book didn’t really tell us much at all, it was just a winding staircase of random thoughts and the same scenarios over and over until we reach the end when Fate finally gives in and changes Elijah’s destiny, which was glossed over imo, but again, hopefully the next book clears it up ig.
This novel just encapsulates second book syndrome. The writing is great and the story is a fresh thought, but this book was a sludge to get through. I will read Wisteria to finish things out and hopefully it’ll be good… though I just can’t picture myself liking Blythe and Fate together.
