Summerwater by Sarah Moss

3.0

“Summerwater” is an interesting little book, which is not to say that I disliked it or that it’s a bad book. Moss sort of flips her trope on its head a bit. She focuses on the minutiae of one day in the lives of her characters and they’re varying gripes. You don’t get the tragedy immediately. You have to wait for it. While it is frustrating to read in some spots, there are others where you connect (the girl washing dishes feeling annoyed with her Mum), you ultimately get a sense of perspective at the end, which I can appreciate. You just have to do some work to get there.
