House of Secrets by Chris Columbus, Ned Vizzini

I read this with my 13 years old cousin and we both thought it was all over the place. we had to make voices and tease each other to make it a tolerable book. I think the basic idea was good but the authors took it way too far. maybe as a movie it would be okay but as a book...no. too many things happening all together and all of the sudden. also I think some of the scenes weren't suitable for a kids' book. it was scary and gross at some points.
