Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
Words of Radiance, by Brendan Sanderson is the highest rated book on all of Goodreads, and I feel like that is a solid argument to make. Everything that made The Way of Kings excellent, is here and potentially better than ever.
Greater stakes, larger intrigue, complex character growth, and no unnecessary povs.
However what I think makes words of radiance stand out above all other books in The Stormlight archive, is that things happen, rather consistently too. Each published novel in The Stormlight archive has two or three amazing moments. Moments so emotionally taught and stressed that you want to cheer, cry, or shout. Words of Radiance has 6 or 7 of these moments.
Alongside these terrific moments words of Radiance also has the largest gap between where the characters begin the story, and where they end it. Instead of just one or two steps forward, those around four or five.
While not my favorite, The Way of Kings still holds that place for me. Words of Radiance cannot have a higher recommendation for this genre.
