4.5☆ Review:
“What does it feel like to be unable to speak? Does it feel like something’s stuck in your throat? What about not being able to hear? Even if you could see it, the sound of people speaking, the tapping on a phone, to go even further, it’s such a silent and still world. It’s as if you’re watching a silent movie. From my point of view, I can’t imagine what’s it’s like at all. But, if I cover my right eye and become unable to see, I understand what a pitch black world feels like. Is your world like that as well? Ishida?”
This follows the friendship of two boys with disabilities. Ishida is deaf. Yu is blind in his left eye. Their platonic love is so heartwarming and is something I feel we don’t get enough of in other stories.
This will be the third time I’ve read this and I have yet to tire of it. Be aware that there are triggers.
I’ll always wish that the ending wasn’t as rushed and that we could have gotten more of what happened to them later in life. But even so, I highly recommend it!
