The Plague by Albert Camus

reflective slow-paced

3.0

I didn’t like the pacing here, it was too slow, although there might have been a structural reason for it… The pragmatic, almost dry writing style kinda reminded me of Kafka’s The Trial which was also a hard read for me. Nevertheless, this  hit emotionally, as someone who lived through the COVID. I get why this had a pandemic era revival because it’s really accurate — eerily accurate — to our pandemic experience. I’m not sure if it was nostalgia or PTSD that I experienced reading this. Eitherway, many parts of this book were moving, I just dipped in and out of the story a lot because of how dense the storyteling is. There were a lot of bangers though, the last line just being one of them.
