This is my 4th or 5th book by this author, and while I really want to enjoy her books, I often time feel frustrated while reading them. This one in particular was just not for me. The good ideas were in there, but it really draaagged, and I skimmed even after they all got together. There were so many missed opportunities that Merlin had to expand on the plot/backstory/etc and the FMC came across as really whiny/boring/incompetent; I really don't understand why they were all so infatuated with her. I get that most people aren't coming to these kind of books expecting much, but I like to be pleasantly surprised and with this one I just...wasn't, lol.
However!! This is one of Merlin's earlier books and her writing has improved between this one and the other ones I've read in her Pleasure & Prey series. So while I really wouldn't recommend this one, I'd recommend her more recent books.
