[3.5 Stars] Well, I HAD to find out what happened next, and lucky for me my library has the first 3 books available as eBooks. What to say about this installment. I like the house politics, but I don't love them. I like the romance, but I have problems with it (particularly with Rogan because meh I still don't love him). I like the lead characters, but they often frustrate me. Other reasons why I think this series isn't quite as good as Kate Daniels: it's a little too Kate Daniels-esque but without the punch and cleverness and time to truly develop all of the relationships AND I find that Ilona Andrews spend way too much time recapping in this series overall.

I do, however, LOVE Nevada's family and the way Ilona Andrews pace their stories. It's what turns a 3 star read into a 3.5 star read. A good series, but it isn't necessarily one I would recommend to a non-Ilona Andrews fan. You're likely better off reading the Innkeeper Chronicles or straight up Kate Daniels. If you like those and want more, THEN pick this series up. If I had to pick the best out of the series so far, it would be the 2nd book. I just love Cornelius and Matilda SO MUCH.
