So I liked how Sawyer and Royce our MCs met, and the start of this one was promising. However it went a bit downhill after a while and i think that is because I went into this with the mindset of it being a "typical" contemporary romance and while yes to a degree it is, for me it also isn't and I think that is why I struggled with it.
The style of writing in this reminded me a little bit of Gemma Weir and her Montana Mountain Men Series where the characters and the stories are insta lust/lovey and OTT and you have to suspend reality a bit to fully enjoy the story. Now, did this go to the extremes that the MMCs in the Gemmas series do? No. The MMC in this was definitely more tame but the other aspects and feel/vibe of Gemmas and this story to me were similar and not realising that going in meant I didn't suspend reality and therefore I went into this taking it too seriously and I didn't come to the realisation above till after I had finished which impacted my overall experience and enjoyment of the book. Now, knowing how to frame this author and her writing for me, I hope I will enjoy the next book more. 🌶🌶
