The Amethyst Kingdom by A.K. Mulford
3.0
"He is no longer the smallest seed." This might have been the stupidest fucking plot twist I have ever seen. SEED? Goodbye.
I do really like this series and the way each book is about a new couple, but it felt like this should have been the third book. I think the last book should have gone to Bri or Tal. I liked the character development, but it felt like the author was relying too heavily on the significance of their shared backstory without giving the reader enough reason to care about it in the first place. Otherwise, I liked Carys and Sy as characters and I liked the way their mystery-emotional-subplot was resolved. The A-plot kind of fell apart, in my opinion? There was an on-page resolution (that even made me tear up a little) but it didn't feel like things were wrapped up emotionally.
Still my fav romantasy series, but I think that's just because I go into it prepared for cliches and trashiness. I think I'll reread soon! This is one of the only romantasy series I've read in the past few years that I've actually enjoyed lol
