The Return of Ellie Black by Emiko Jean
4.0
I always associate thrillers with fall, so I was in the mood for a good one. The Return of Ellie Black fit that bill. Ellie, a teenage girl missing for 2 years, is suddenly found and refuses to talk about where she's been. The case is investigated by Chelsey Calhoun, who's own sister died in a tragic accident two decades ago. I really enjoyed the split pov and split timeline that slowly fleshed out the story as the investigation progressed. I will say that the ending felt a little too focused on wrapping everything up in a neat little ribbon. Which usually I like but in this case I think a little open-ended ness may have served the story more.
