I love a bit of magical realism especially those set in the 19th century.
Spellbreaker is a fun mystery novel with duel POV from our two main characters.
I enjoyed story and twists throughout, when you think you have discovered something, another thing pops up to lead you in a different direction. Although at the end of the novel you are left with questions (don’t worry it’s a duology).
It was also great mix of mystery and slow burn romance (very slow, suitable for the time period so don’t expect any 🌶️!)
I did find the world and magic system building at the start slightly confusing and took me a bit to get my head wrapped around it. But once I hit about a 1/4 of the way into the book I was hooked.
Warning, it’s a cliffhanger ending (pet peeve).
