Greek Mythology is AWESOME, which makes this book awesome! I had already seen the movie, so I knew I would like the book a lot. I liked it even more than that! I am really excited to see what else is going to happen in this series. I know it is middle grade fiction but it did not feel that way to me. I was interested from start to finish.

There are a lot of mythical creatures packed into this book, and I would not want it any other way. Camp Half blood seems like such a cool place too.

I really liked Percy, he seems so much older than 12. Maybe that is why the young ages of the characters do not bug me at (like I thought they would) because they all act so much older than they are. They have all had a pretty tough life and have had to grow up fast.

Percy sets off on an adventure about 1/3 of the way through the book and that is when it really starts to get good. I loved the amount of mythology "facts" that were incorporated into the storyline. The nerd in me loved it, I felt like I was getting a greek myth lesson, along with reading about a really cool, high action, adventure.

I like how most of the half bloods have characteristics of their god parents. I wish I had read this book before I had seen the movie though so I could have been surprised with some of the twists and turns that happened. That is one of the reasons why I am so excited to reading the rest of the series, because it will all be new to me.
