A Killing Frost by John Marsden
3.0
I probably would have liked this book more if I had read the first two in the series (I got a free copy and decided to just go for it), but as a stand alone book A Killing Frost is still exciting and a fast read. A group of five Australian teenagers are fighting a guerrilla war of survival against an invading army that has taken over the country, imprisoned and enslaved the population, and sent in groups of colonists. The characters are all pretty broad and the writing is occasionally hokey, but since this is a young adult novel, I think some broad strokes are forgivable. The action and suspense scenes are effective and brutal. And although I've never heard of it before, this series apparently has quite a following.
