As White as Snow by Salla Simukka, Owen F. Witesman
3.0
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I think it's fair to say that this book was better than the first. I think three stars is a pretty fair, and accurate rating for this book. One of the things that really set this book apart from the first was the translation. I don't know if it was the same translator or a new one, but this book flowed much better than the first.
I also liked the story line more in this book. It was pretty unrealistic, but it was fun. Lumikki is a teenager just travelling around Prague when she all of a sudden finds her long lost sister and gets mixed up with a crazy religious cult created by a dude from Nebraska. Again, not realistic, but it was a fun read. It took me about 2-3 hours to read, and there was just enough surprising moments to keep the readers on their toes and unable to put the book down.
One other difference between the first book and the second book is the age level. Both of these book were labeled as New Adult; the first one was in every single way a young adult book that was appropriate for every audience. The second book is a little more New Adultish. There are some mentions of "sexy time" which some people may question for a younger audience, but in my personal opinion, it wasn't really enough to be a problem. I think this book could still hang out in a teen section of a library or book store.
