Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

The writing style being more experimental and having disjointed sentences wasn’t as effective for me - it felt like it was doing too much and it would’ve almost read a lot better if it was written in “regular prose” but it was still easy to follow - also the younger characters like Yazz were written in a way that was kinda cringe. Like no one our age cares if you say friend group or squad or girls instead of gurlz??
But the commentaries on intersectional feminism, womanhood, motherhood, coming of age, living within the patriarchy and views towards race in the uk were rlly interesting and overall I rlly enjoyed it - esp the way it all tied together in the ending
