Loved these kinds of ghost stories as a kid, but unfortunately they just don't seem to do it for me as an adult. After a couple, they became highly predictable and were definitely not as spooky as I'd hoped for.

Almost wish I hadn't read Dahl's introduction--I might have preferred not to know that one of my favourite children's authors had some incredibly facile and naive views on women writers.
