Wild Honey: Reading New Zealand Women's Poetry by Paula Green

Did not finish book.
I picked this up thinking it was an anthology of poetry written by NZ women perhaps with a few explanatory notes (I was carrying too many other books to flick through it), but it’s actually an in-depth analysis. I didn’t have enough background knowledge to follow the links between poems and poets, particularly since extracts rather than full poems are presented. As it was mostly going over my head and I wasn’t getting anything from the book, I DNFed it. This does not necessarily reflect the quality of the book, but simply that I am not the target audience - if you have an academic interest in poetry and are reasonably familiar with the NZ poetry landscape, then Wild Honey would probably be extremely interesting.
