Lets get this straight— Vanja Schmidt wasn't trying to start a cult! After accidentally starting a congregation of believers (a cult), she now has to deal with the consequences of one (or several) little lies, along with the possibility of being prosecuted for fraud and the prospect of having to offer up her crush as a virgin sacrifice.
I was slightly scared going into this since I enjoyed the first one A LOT and it's been such a long time since I picked it up. Then I was hit in the face with how much I missed the writing style and characters. Margaret Owen really knows how to mix suspense and humor and this book had a lot of both imo. While the middle part dragged on quite a bit more than it probably had to and was a lot more focused on Vanja's relationships- both romantic and platonic- I thought this made so much sense for her character development! However, the characters that made book one so special were dearly missed.
