I came to this book expecting a sad chick lit book with some entitled friends, little romance and growing pains in friendships and a book cover that is misleading.

Is this book deep- Yes

Is this book about friendship and how relationships change- Yes

Is this book sad- I did cry at one point

Is this book a romance- Yes it really is- it’s a second chance romance. We get the back story of them falling, where it fell apart and how they came back together. There is angst and tension

Did I find a couple of the friends to be entitled and selfish- Also Yes

This is my favorite Emily Henry book. I really related to Harriet. She is a people pleaser, wanting love and acceptance from her parents and stays silent to keep things going without ruffling feathers of anyone but those tendencies make her feel alone, frustrated and ready to scream. Win feels inadequate, trying to find himself and what he wants, wants to be a rock for his family, and feels undeserving of Harriet. These two have to learn to communicate, share the downs and heavy stuff. To me this book was about relationships, love, grief, growing up, and finding your people and person.

CW: death of a parent, grief, 🌶️ content, marijuana use, alcohol use
