The Body by Stephen King
4.0
I need days after finishing this story to be able to write some kind of review. Chris Chambers... oh my god, I couldn't stop thinking about him. A poor, poor Chris Chambers, who fought his way through friends and people who keep dragging him down, who never stop trying to drown him in the quicksand of his own upbringing. Chris Chambers, who stood by our protagonist-slash-narrator Gordon Lachance (nicknamed Gordie) and knocked some sense into him during their short journey to witness the dead body of Ray Brower.
The story could be shorter if only some stories written by Gordie in later years or told during the journey are not included in full detail. But it doesn't matter. This is an excellent coming-of-age novella nonetheless that naturally captures that particular sense of freedom and invincibility of youth.
