The Empire of Dreams by Rae Carson
4.0
I completely fell in love with the original trilogy and was so excited when I found out about this book! It took me a while to finally get to it on my TBR but I really enjoyed this one. I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I did the first three books but it was still really good.
This is such a fun and in the end heartwarming fantasy. I love Red's character and loved getting to read a whole story about her. I really love the way this was written jumping back and forth between the present and the past. It was a little slow for me in the first 100 pages or so and it took me a bit to get sucked back into the world, but I flew through the second half of the book. The last chapter or so had me more emotional than I thought I was going to be. It was a very nice and heartwarming wrap-up to the story. I also really appreciate the writing and handling of mental illness, specifically PTSD. I think it was written really well throughout the whole book.
My only real complaint is that the ending seemed to wrap up a little too quickly and the beginning was a little slow but other than that I loved it.
