The story follows Ursa Corregidora, a blues singer with a jealous husband. So jealous he pushes get down the stairs. After the incident she is faced with the harsh reality of not being able to bear children. Something her grandmother told her was important.
“… The important thing is making generations. They can burn the papers but they can’t burn conscious,Ursa. And that what makes the evidence. And that’s what makes the verdict.”
If I’m to be honest, Ursa didn’t seem to learn much about relationships from her maternal family. Other than making generations, which required a man. Though, I did like her visit with her mom and the truth that came from it.
Still, Ursa’s choices in men were a bit risky. Especially in the end, 22 years after being pushed down them stairs. 😒
I guess psychological trauma is definitely real, especially when you don’t face if for what it is. And I understand legacy, but there’s no way I would’ve kept speaking about Corregidora - the Portuguese slave owner who fathered Ursa’s mother and grandmother. ☹️
