This was my first book of Caggiano’s outside of her Villains & Virtues series, and I wasn’t sure how it would stand up to those characters and that world. I needn’t have worried, because this still carried much of the charm of that series, but with less dark magic and more holiday spirit. Now, was the entire impetus for them meeting and starting their relationship completely far-fetched? Yes. Did I care? No. I could really relate to Piper‘s need to step in to the motherly role and micromanage everything for the family and their holiday gathering. And I appreciated Kol seeing this as an issue and helping her to work through it.
