Format: Audio 

Another great book in the Ryder & Loveday Mystery series, I picked this up straight on the back of reading A Fatal Obsession. Once again, I listened to the audio book while down at the yard and really enjoyed it. 

I think the portrayal of Oxford was better in this book and I was picturing where things happened while listening. The relationship between Clement and Trudy remained strong and I love this that follows a WPC and Coroner, rather than a more senior officer – it feels a bit like we as the reader are learning alongside Trudy. Clement Ryder does frustrate me a bit when he seems to know all the answers before us, but I’m hoping I may be able to crack one of these cases eventually! 

While this can be read as a standalone, I like the threads that are running across the series. No spoilers, but I am intrigued to see how these continue in later books.
