Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar

5.0

I truly adored this book. I love that the author made sure to include this understanding that straight white people just refuse to understand queerness and Bengali culture and it didn't feel like it was being shoehorned into the story. It very much just felt like two girls living their lives, which happens to include a ton of microaggressions from "friends". I'm always a fan of the fake dating trope, and Hani and Ishu did not disappoint on that front. So cute! Loved the focus on relationships with parents, siblings, and friends and how these girls were able to have a romance while also having lives separate from one another. A lot of books really struggle to maintain that.
