The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

You know it's a good series when book two is picked up within a month of book one. This instalment of the Bridgertons series follows the eldest of the bunch, Anthony. On a mission to find marriage, not love, Anthony decides Kate's sister is the best match. However, things don't go to plan as he can't get Kate off his mind.

I need to get something off my chest, the book is so much better than the series for this one. I still like the series BUT it differs so much from the book. In the book version there is no animosity between Kate and her sister Edwina, resulting in a love story about both familial and romantic relationships. I dislike that the writers of the show chose to change this up so much. If there was sisterly disharmony in the book, fair game, but it felt like there was drama added which completely changed the dynamics between characters.

I've also realised what I like about this series so much. When the very obvious love interests get married, you're about ¾ of the way through the book. This means that you're left seeing what the characters are like after marriage and the next chapter of their lives - together. I think this is awesome because you've spent so much time with these characters and it can sometimes be annoying when you're left with a happy ever after ending. In this particular instalment I liked seeing the (admittedly very light) enemies to lovers come to a conclusion after the wedding. I really hope this plot layout continues in the next books.

I highly recommend this series if you're looking for a romance novel where you can't help but grin at the character interactions. There's also a bit of steaminess but not to an intense level, so the atmosphere in the bedroom doesn't get too… much.

Triggers include death, grief, alcohol, PTSD, and panic attacks. The sexual content includes sex scenes and consensual intimacy.
