This is an okay book, though does less well what Amy Reed does really well with Nowhere Girls. The writing isn't great, but it's fine; the story is enjoyable and inspiring. But it ultimately feels less immediate, less urgent, than I wanted it to.

Also, writers, can you please stop having women use vanilla extract as perfume to show how low maintenance they are? It's not a thing. It's really not.
