Bound to My Mate by DoctorWolf

I liked it, really. This story is also a nonhuman love story, right up the authors alley, and a good story at that. I do like her other book, “A Slave to the Servants” a little bit more. This one takes some warming up to, but I still enjoyed the read. If I could describe the book , I’d say it reminds me of Twilight meets The Sopranos —a weird combination but fun thrilling and...kinda cheesy I’ll admit. But it’s making DW one of my favorite Lit authors
Some things I’m still scratching my head on:
The wolf on wolf, and hybrid wolf on human, and wolf...on human scenes. Felt a little...beastish? Idk if it’s me but the wolf on human scenes felt like they were toeing the line on bestiality. I wish those scenes were written a little differently...I don’t even know.
Then there’s Elizabeth and Joel —-possibly the oddest couple in this book. Joel is Alpha, dominant in every sense of the word and Elizabeth is too in her own way, but it seems they butt heads more than they agree. In real life, if they weren’t physically attracted to each other, they would be bickering all day! No idea how they survived 20 chapters of love but they’re the annoying but alluring power couple and MCs of this whole book and I grew fonder on Elizabeth as time went on
The other thing I wasn’t a fan of was the witch-wolf plot. Which we actually a huge part of the whole plot. But I thought there was going to be more backstory to how witches and wolves exist and work together (and perhaps what other magical, mystical beings exist), but once the plot with the witches finished, I just felt it wasn’t much of a page Turner. The villains ending fell a little flat to me.
But there are many strong points to this book too. The wolf history, some of the breakout characters (Rick, Lucas, Emily). The side humour and side plots. Love it. Now I don’t have anything else of hers to read. Ugh! I do wish she revisited Lit again — it’s been 5 years so maybe she forgot her password or maybe she’s just chilling or maybe there’s another story cooking in the works... either way I’ll be waiting
