Facing the Mountain: An Inspiring Story of Japanese American Patriots in World War II by Daniel James Brown
3.0
An ambitious exploration of the Japanese American experience of WWII. Really more like 3 books in 1, including perspectives of Japanese Americans on internment, serving in WWII, and reintegration. A really fantastic account of a relatively hidden part of American history. Only qualm is that it sometimes reads as unfocused as it jumps back and forth between perspectives. Perhaps a more narrowly focused book on a subset of perspectives would have been tighter, but overall it is a strength that this book covered so much ground.
