Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
5.0
I read this as a buddy read and really enjoyed it. I think it is such an important book with a unique perspective on what it is like to grow up as a transgender person in the Latinx community. I can say without a doubt that I learned a lot, and this book inspired many good conversations with other readers and coworkers. As a teacher, it definitely made me think and reflect on what some of my students may be going through. It also filled me with so much anger to see how several of the characters were treated, especially because I know that is a reality in today’s world. The only thing that didn’t resonate as much with me is that it does read very YA (in my opinion), but I believe that is the intended audience so that totally makes sense.
Overall I would absolutely recommend this book!
