I almost always love everything by CL but this missed the mark for me.
1) I hate that R&M had sex not once but twice when Millie was drunk/tipsy. It felt very uncomfortable.
2) I really didn’t *like* either of them. He was pretentious sometimes and she was just annoying.
3) Lastly - I feel like I didn’t actually see them fall in love. It was fast and everything felt like it happened off page. I know we had the letters to each other but that still didn’t feel like enough since we only saw like 20 of them combined.
This is the first time I’ve rated a CL book lower than 3, and I think it might be the first time I’ve disliked characters.
