Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

5.0

As a result of adoring Midnight Library, I'm working my way through the Matt Haig catalog - enjoying every minute of it. Reasons to Stay Alive, in particular, goes a long way toward explaining Matt's uniquely compassionate view of people, life, and events.

For many years, it has been my perspective that the most enlightened among us are those who have had to repeatedly work their way through the muck and mire we call life - as opposed to having the world's treasures gifted upon them. Matt is a perfect example.

I recommend this book for anyone who has either experienced depression firsthand or loves someone who is/was caught up in it. The insider's perspective is eye-opening. The all-encompassing emotions described in a way I've never heard. In a way that makes sense. Matt has the ability to understand and explain pain that is both heart-breaking and breath-taking.

Worth the price of admission, folks.
Highly recommend.
