The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company by Robert Iger, Joel Lovell

5.0

Even for a non-CEO like myself, Robert Iger had a lot to say about pursuing your dreams, being brave in your decision-making, and trusting yourself and your colleagues. Of course Iger is a valuable voice for someone in a leadership role; but his insights are also helpful in understanding in how to be an effective colleague and what a manager/boss can and should do for you to help you on your way. A person's success of course relies on one's efforts and skills, but you cannot go it alone either if you want to do big things. You need to do your best, and also encourage and facilitate the best in others to achieve.

In a world when caring and passion can be perceived as vulnerability or weakness, it was nice to hear from a leader that puts so much care and consideration into every piece of his brand. I imagine that this book is something I'll return to throughout my lifetime and in different stages of my life, as his wisdom can be applied in both personal and professional settings at every level.
