Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life by Ruth Franklin
informative
medium-paced
3.5
This book offered a wonderful insight into Jackson’s life, and has led me to thoroughly detest Stanley Hyman (whom I think this book talked about a bit too much). I have loved this dive into Jackson’s world and think Franklin has written a fascinating book - though I found her to be quite dismissive of the merits of a ghost story and she completely neglected to mention Jackson’s influence on Gothic and Weird literature.
