Naked Edge by Pamela Clare

I think I'm going to take a break from this series. I am disappointed in this volume and I ended up not finishing it.
My thoughts:
* Primarily I was disturbed by the 'romance' between Kat and Gabe. She had made the decision not to have sex until marriage, but Gabe was completely fixated on having sex with her. Yes, he complied with her wishes, but her being vulnerable and him being horny is not my idea of a romantic storyline.
* There was less suspense. Less of the investigative reporting that we've seen in the previous books.
* Cultural appropriation was a different issue 10+ years ago when the book was written, but it's still uncomfortable to read this.
* I haven't mentioned it before, but I hate Clare's devise of repeating fragments of conversation over and over. Her readers are intelligent - we don't need to be reminded of an earlier conversation. It wouldn't be bad if it happened once or twice in a book, but it happens much more often. It makes me feel like she thinks I'm incapable of remembering what happened earlier in the story.
* The cover is terrible. Yes, it's generic. But the pose is neither romantic or sexy. And where is the First Nations heroine???
