Yeonnam-dong's Smiley Laundromat by Kim Jiyun, Translated by Shanna Tan is like a warm cup of tea on a cold dreary day. It pulls at your heart strings, fills you with hope and reminds the reader that you are never alone. With characters working through heartbreaking loss, financial hardships and feelings of sadness, there is a bright light of hope, love and a community of helping hands. I loved this book so much and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for future translations of Kim Jiyun’s work!
