The Magic Misfits: The Second Story by Neil Patrick Harris

4.0

I love that each one of these books is going to follow a different kid in the Magic Misfits. My daughter and I both absolutely loved Leila's story.

Watching her meet the Vernon's and grow into herself and find her place was absolutely wonderful. I do feel like I always hold a special spot for the first character a series is about, you know? The OG that sparked the first feels Ina group of people. I was almost a little disappointed to learn this book wasn't going to follow Carter, but diving into Leila's life was so much better.

Also, Mr. Vernon's secrets are going to drive me mad. Like, as a parent, I totally agree with not telling your kids all your deep darks. But, as a reader, c'mon man! Give me more!

The puzzles are also fun. I absolutely did not hate having to decode a bunch of Morse throughout.
